What a Control Arm Is
The lower control arm holds the bottom of the front wheel to the car. It pivots on rubber bushings and a ball joint. When those wear, the front end can clunk or wander.

How the Job Went
One side at a time. The car goes up, the wheel comes off, and the arm is unbolted from the knuckle and the frame. The new arm goes in the same way it came out.

The Job Record
One Thing to Know
Control arm work is not on his usual list of jobs. This one was done for the owner who had the parts. If yours needs it, call and ask. A new arm can change the alignment, and an alignment needs a rack, which he does not work from.

Questions
What does a lower control arm do?
It links the front wheel to the body of the car and lets the wheel move up and down. Worn bushings or a worn ball joint make it loose.
Can I supply my own control arms?
On this job the owner did. Brian did labor only. Ask when you call whether that suits your car.
Is suspension work on his list?
It is not on his usual list of jobs. This one was done for the owner. Call and ask about yours.
