What It Is
Pads are the friction blocks that squeeze the rotor, the metal disc behind the wheel, to stop the car. Pads wear down by design. Rotors wear more slowly, but they get thin, grooved or warped, and a pad left too long will cut into the rotor behind it.
Pads alone is the smaller job. Pads and rotors together is the common one once a car has some miles on it. Which one you need is decided with the wheel off, not on the phone.
Signs You Need It
- A squeal when you brake, often the wear tab on the pad doing its job
- A grinding or scraping noise, which usually means metal on metal
- A shake in the steering wheel or the pedal when you stop
- The car pulls to one side under braking
- A brake warning light on the dash
How It Goes at Your Address
The car goes up on a jack and stands, one axle at a time, and the wheels come off. The caliper comes off, the old pads come out, and the rotor is measured or replaced. New pads go in, the caliper goes back on, and the pedal is pumped firm before the car moves.
His reviewers describe the range. One had brakes and rotors done on all four corners along with four wheel bearings in one visit. One had been told by a shop he needed brakes front and rear, and Brian showed him the back pads were still good. One had brakes and calipers done after another mechanic got it wrong.
Where His Line Is
He works off jacks and stands, not a lift, by his own account. A brake job does not need a lift, which is why it suits a driveway. If something else turns up with the wheels off, he quotes it before he does it.

Brian worked his butt off in the heat, did a great job replacing 4 wheel bearings and brakes and rotors on all 4 corners, did it all in 3.5 hrs
Hi! He came to my home and put brakes and a rotor on my Volvo. Fast and very communicative throughout the service. Definitely will use again.
Huey's Mobile is a 10/10 highly recommend. He came and fixed a job that another mechanic screwed up. Replaced my brakes and calipers really quickly and very reasonable pricing charging a 3rd of what other shops charged. I have never been more satisfied
Brian was great. He responded quickly, showed up when he said he was going to show up, did a great job and had great prices.
Most important he was honest. The last big company I had do my oil change and tire rotation told me I needed all new brakes front and rear. However, I wasn't happy with their pricing. I bought the parts at the auto store and had Brian come over and do the labor. He informed me and showed me that my back brakes pad were still good saving me money on both parts I could return and for labor not needed. If you need oil change, tire rotation, brake pad replacement and probably anything else, Brian is your guy!!! Highly recommended and will be using him again for sure!!!
We highly recommend Brian. He took care of our daughter’s brakes. He is honest and fair. I will definitely use him again and would suggest giving him a call
If you’re looking for a trustworthy mobile mechanic, Brian is your guy!! He was very reliable, communicated throughout the whole process, showed up on time and knocked out my brakes and rotors very quickly. So glad I found him. If you’re thinking about hiring him for any of your car repairs, do it! 10/10 recommend!!

Questions
Before You Call
Do I need rotors as well as pads?
Not always. A rotor that is thick enough and not scored can stay. That gets checked with the wheel off. One of his reviewers was told by a shop he needed brakes front and rear, and Brian showed him the back pads were still good.
Can he do my brakes in the driveway?
Yes. That is where most of his brake jobs happen. The job needs a flat, firm spot for the jack and stands.
Can I buy the parts myself?
One of his reviewers did exactly that. He bought the parts at a parts store and had Brian do the labor. Ask when you call whether that suits your job.
Is a grinding noise urgent?
Yes. Grinding usually means the pad is gone and metal is cutting into the rotor. The longer it goes on, the bigger the job, and the car stops less well the whole time.
